The Living Edge is a small waterfront public park installation along the Providence River near South Water Street. Designed as a biodegradable landscape project, it transforms a former lawn into a more natural public space with meadow plantings, young trees, mulch paths, and log-style seating at the river’s edge. The space was created to show how Providence’s waterfront could become more ecologically resilient while still welcoming people to gather, rest, and connect with the river in the middle of downtown.

over the past year I had the privilege of being a part of the first CityWorks cohort, working through a collaborative process to create a unique RFP to solicit creative strategies towards resiliency in PVD along the river. Thursday evening from 5-7pm we will be celebrating & unveiling #livingedgepvd a landscape intervention in resilient design by adameanderson. head to downcitydesign to rsvp!
Yep, still one of our favorite park spots downtown 🥰

Golden hour at #livingedgepvd. Despite the drought this Summer this wild space along the river is still hanging on and providing a respite from the city, within the city.

The purpose in a person’s heart is like deep water, but a person of understanding will draw it out. Proverbs 20:5

A surprising gift from this weird season was finding a life coach. It’s mind blowing how gifted shreves is at pulling the deep things of my heart up so I can confront them. It’s not easy as I realize how many things have been ignored or stifled in there. Spirit, soul, and body....we are wonderfully complex. It’s been transformative to have someone help me rest, receive love, and find the confidence to pursue the desires of my heart.

Praying you will have space and time to know how loved you are, the things you are created to do, and the courage to pursue them wholeheartedly!

We love our neighborhood and we’re anxious to rejoin it.
We are constantly encouraged by everyone’s kind support during this time and we want you to know how much we miss you, too. When we do reopen, know that we will do so as safely as possible for all of you and for all of us. We’re hoping it won’t be long.
We will see you then.
Love, all of us at Wild Colonial

Tucked into the heart of downtown, Abbott Park is a quiet reminder of where the city began 🌿
Dating back to the 18th century, Providence’s oldest public park offers a small but meaningful place to pause—surrounded by the rhythm of the city, yet somehow set apart. Whether you’re passing through or taking a moment to sit, it’s a little piece of history still woven into everyday life.

Congrats to @wrwc_ri on the completion of the bike path extension — now you can bike all the way from Johnston to Downtown Providence (under a secret passageway though the mall!) on protected bike lanes.
Along the way you’ll find public art, a storm water garden, and a kayak launch.
We loved learning more of the history of the area, including a century-old planned but unrealized fruit market right where @farmfreshri now stands, and the factories that produced rubber molds for the jewelry industry you might still find lying at the bottom of the river!
A great day to celebrate Providence’s past, present and future.
This is what a King Tide looks like on the Riverwalk!
@providenceplanning has developed the Riverwalk Resilience Project to plan for a future when this flooding happens more than a few times a year.
We are excited to learn more about the project at the @growsmartri summit next week.
