Al Forno Restaurant is a long-running Italian eatery on the riverfront known for wood-grilled and high-heat dishes that highlight New England ingredients. Opened in 1980 by chef-owners Johanne Killeen and George Germon, it popularized grilled pizza and features specialties like Dirty Steak with Hot Fanny Sauce, Clams Al Forno, a range of baked pastas, and made-to-order desserts including hand-churned ice cream and fresh fruit tarts. Dinner service is offered Tuesday through Saturday, with reservations and takeout available via their website.
