Stratum 1, 2, & 3 is a spray paint on wood panel triptych by regional artist JIMBOE, renowned in the local graffiti and street art scene for his multilayered approach and mastery of palette. Choosing a bright and saturated array of colors to compliment the surrounding 2nd floor lobby space for which the work was created, JIMBOE includes classic tags (repetition of his name) in several writing styles. JIMBOE is sometimes written in full and other times interrupted and abstracted by other compositional elements like background color field work or bubble patterning.
JIMBOE began his work with Point225 when he was commissioned by The Avenue Concept in December of 2018 to create the first exterior mural at One Ship Street, the building directly adjacent to Point225. The Avenue Concept (TAC) facilitated the triptych’s creation, a bespoke piece made especially for that site and permanently acquired by Point225. TAC is also responsible for the current mural on view at One Ship Street, which rotates annually when each year a new project replaces the former project, Biofuture, the entry lobby wraparound mural by Myles Dumas, and the Steven Siegel like a buoy, like a barrel remnant and photographic installation also on view downstairs, which commemorates the former monumental sculpture of the same name, previously installed on the plaza. This collection of work results from The Avenue Concept’s ongoing partnership with the building and Wexford Science + Technology, making public art happen for the Point225 community and general public.
