Trinity Repertory Company is Rhode Island’s premier regional theater and one of the most respected in the U.S. Established in the early 1960s, it operates from a historic Beaux-Arts performance house that houses two theaters: the Chace (seating around 500) and the Dowling (around 300). It maintains the nation’s last long-standing resident acting company and presents a mix of world premieres, contemporary works, and classic plays, including an annual staging of A Christmas Carol, drawing over 100,000 audience members each season. Its educational initiatives include Project Discovery—introduced in the mid‑1960s—which brings live theater to thousands of students, and a prestigious MFA program in partnership with Brown University.
