AS220 is a non‑profit community arts organization. It operates multiple mixed‑use buildings downtown and offers unjuried, uncensored access to visual and performing arts. Facilities include gallery spaces, a Main Stage performance gallery, a Black Box theater, darkroom, print shop, media and fabrication labs, a bar and restaurant, and affordable live/work studios for artists.
Founded in 1985 above the Providence Performing Arts Center, AS220 expanded over decades to occupy over 100,000 sq ft across downtown Providence. The Main Stage at 115 Empire St serves as both performance venue and gallery, seats ~120 (seated) or ~200 (standing), and supports music, readings, film, talks, panel discussions, and community events.
