Memorial Park stands today as a peaceful, sculpture-filled tribute to those who gave their lives in wars and conflicts around the world. 🇺🇸
Swipe to see a glimpse back to 1983 — photo courtesy of @pvdnowandthen — looking east from what is now the intersection of Washington Street and Memorial Boulevard. While much of the area looks familiar, you’ll notice the World War I memorial once stood in a very different spot. For decades, it was the centerpiece of a notorious traffic circle known as "Suicide Circle." Today, the memorial has been moved a few hundred feet to its rightful home in the heart of Memorial Park, where it rests in quiet honor. 🌿

What a day, Providence!
This Earth Day, our community showed UP — together, we collected over 325 pounds of trash from our parks and river!
Here’s to cleaner streets, greener spaces, and the power of coming together for our city.
Thank you @partnership4pvdparks & @dnapvd for leading the efforts!

This Earth Day, we’re reflecting on the beauty, resilience, and importance of green spaces in the heart of our city.
Our parks are more than just places to gather—they’re living ecosystems that clean our air, support biodiversity, and give us room to breathe, connect, and grow.
Let’s keep caring for them, together.
