Coming Home: Where the Heart Belongs
Sunday, May 17, 2026
The Rhode Island Wind Ensemble presents Coming Home on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Woodman Family Community & Performance Center at Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island. Admission is free, and donations are gratefully accepted.
This season finale explores the many meanings of home through a powerful and engaging program of wind band music. From reflections on memory and identity to feelings of nostalgia and belonging, Coming Home invites audiences on a musical journey that is both personal and universal.
The concert features percussion soloist Peter Ferry ’09, a Moses Brown alumnus and internationally active performer, educator, and arts entrepreneur. Ferry is a member of the 2026 GRAMMY Award–winning ensemble Alarm Will Sound and a graduate of the Eastman School of Music. He has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and collaborates with leading contemporary composers. His return to Rhode Island marks a meaningful homecoming.
At the center of the program is Keiko Abe’s Prism Rhapsody, a dynamic and colorful work for marimba and wind ensemble. The program also includes Sousa’s Homeward Bound March, Copland’s Buckaroo Holiday, Ives’s Old Home Days, selections from John Williams’s Home Alone, and the finale of Dvořák’s New World Symphony.
In addition to the performance, Moses Brown students will have the opportunity to connect with Ferry through an educational session, offering a behind-the-scenes look at life as a professional musician.
Join us for an inspiring afternoon of music that celebrates the idea of home in all its forms.
