Aquí Me Quedo – A Living History Barrio Tour

Step into the past and walk through history with RI Latino Art’s Barrio Tours of Broad Street in South Providence, RI. Led by oral historian and RILA founder Marta V. Martínez, our guided walking tours explore the evolution of Broad Street from its early days in the 1700s to its vibrant transformation in the 1960s when Latino families began to settle, build businesses, and shape the cultural heartbeat of the neighborhood.

This spring, as a prelude to our summer production of La Broa‘, the Aquí Me Quedo Living History Barrio Tour is scheduled for Sat. April 18 from 4-6pm. Cost: $10 per person. You must register to attend. Only 15 spots availablewww.rilatinoarts.org/BarrioTours.html

You will meet Josefina “Doña Fefa” Rosario—the legendary matriarch of Rhode Island’s Dominican community—and her husband, Tony both of whom appear in character to share first-hand stories about life on Broad Street in the 1960s and 70s. Come discover how this historic corridor became a place of home, hope, and heritage for generations of Latinos.
